Thailand's regulator has filed a criminal complaint against crypto exchange operator Bitget. The country's Securities Commission announced this on November 5. According to its version, the company BG Limited sold cryptocurrency trading services to Thais without a license from 2022 to 2025.
Access will be closed on December 5, 2026. The exchange's website, related domains and mobile app will be blocked.
A digital asset license is a permit from the local regulator to serve clients in the country. Without it, an exchange operates outside the rules, and its users are left without legal protection. For a trader this means one thing: funds in the account need to be transferred before the deadline.
What is the claim based on?
The claim relies on Article 26 of the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses of 2018. Penalties are provided for by Article 66.
- Economic Crime Suppression Division - the case materials have been handed over to it
- Ministry of Digital Economy and Society - it has been tasked with restricting access
- Investigation stage - the court has not established guilt
What does the regulator consider evidence?
The agency listed the signs of operating in the Thai market.
- Thai version of the website. Prices on it are listed in baht.
- Commissions from trades. The exchange collected them from clients in the country.
- Promotion on social media. Advertising ran through X, Telegram and TikTok.
A separate complaint has been filed against Kritsana Kritsananuwat. According to the regulator, he advertised the exchange on the Srisiam page on Facebook and the SRISIAM channel on YouTube.
What should the exchange's clients do?
The regulator advises resolving the matter of assets before December 5. No freezing of funds or suspension of withdrawals has been announced.
In the October edition of Bitget's user agreement, Thailand is already listed as a prohibited jurisdiction. In May 2025, the same agency launched blocking of Bybit, OKX, CoinEx, 1000X and XT.COM.
Key point: it is more convenient to keep the deadline and other market dates in one place - for example, in the economic calendar.
What will happen to the Bitget deal?
The blow landed in the middle of the deal. On October 20, Bitget announced the purchase of GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand) through the entity BTGT Management (Thailand).
- Z.com EX - a licensed exchange owned by this company
- about 11 million baht - the company's revenue for 2025
- 87.6 million baht - its net loss
On October 30, seller GMO Internet moved the share transfer from October 31 to November 30, citing approvals with Thai authorities.
The closing requires regulatory approval, including a change of owner and control over the license. The permission must be granted by the same agency that filed the complaint.
Moved your deposit because of an exchange block?
Such stories end the same way. You manage to withdraw the money before the deadline, find a new platform and see there the same amount as two years ago. Access to the market has changed, the scale of the trade has stayed the same. In prop trading, the company sets the nominal for the position: you pay for the selection, trade within its loss limits and split the profit under the contract. It is more convenient to work through this mechanic in a calm market, not in a week of relocations.
