Strategy increased its Bitcoin reserves by another 250 BTC over the past week. The company spent about $21.5 million on the purchase. The average purchase price was $86,194 per BTC.

How much Bitcoin Strategy now holds

After the new purchase, the company's total holdings rose to 848,250 BTC. That is about 4% of Bitcoin's maximum supply of 21 million coins. At the current market price, that volume is valued at approximately $71 billion. The average purchase price of Strategy's entire portfolio is about $75,441 per BTC.

The pace of purchases has noticeably slowed In recent weeks, the volume of new acquisitions has been shrinking. Two weeks ago, Strategy bought 1,665 BTC. Then the volume dropped to 334 BTC. Now the company has added only 250 BTC. Compared with the purchase two weeks ago, the volume has declined by roughly 84%. For comparison, in one of the weeks of November 2024, the company acquired as much as 55,500 BTC at once.

Money is going not only into Bitcoin

At the same time, Strategy is actively buying back its own STRC preferred shares. Over the past week, about $192 million went to the buyback. That is almost nine times the amount spent on the new Bitcoin purchase. A week earlier, the company directed about $176.3 million to STRC. Before that, about $151.7 million went to share buybacks, while about $142.7 million was spent on Bitcoin.

What is happening with cash reserves

Strategy still has about $4.88 billion in reserves. These funds are set aside, among other things, for future dividend payments. So the question now is not so much whether the money is there, but where the company prefers to direct it. Recent reports show a more noticeable emphasis on buying back its own securities.

Why the market is watching this

Strategy remains the largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin. Therefore, the slowdown in the pace of purchases is seen as an important signal for corporate demand. At the same time, the company still has a significant reserve of capacity to raise capital. According to its reporting, it can additionally issue common shares worth about $18.8 billion.

Does this mean the purchases are ending

Not necessarily. A decline in volume over several weeks does not yet mean abandoning the Bitcoin accumulation strategy. The company continues to buy BTC and has the tools to raise additional capital. The main question is what priority Strategy will give to its next operations: new Bitcoin purchases or buying back its own securities.

Corporate demand remains

Large companies' interest in cryptocurrencies is not limited to Bitcoin. BitMine increased its Ethereum reserves by another 12,532 ETH over the week. The total volume reached 6,028,946 ETH, which corresponds to about 4.9% of Ethereum's supply. This shows that corporate accumulation of digital assets continues, although the allocation of capital between companies and instruments is changing.

What's next

Strategy's next reports will show whether the trend of a slowing pace of BTC purchases persists. It will be especially important to monitor the ratio between spending on Bitcoin and the STRC buyback. If buying back its own shares continues to take up the bulk of capital, this will become a more lasting change in the company's priorities.

Are you buying 250 coins at a time or 0.05?

Corporate purchases and a private trader's trades may be built on the same market idea, but the result depends heavily on the size of available capital. In prop trading, the trading nominal is provided by the company after passing a skill evaluation, and profits are distributed according to pre-established conditions. It's better to understand the mechanics in advance, before the next major wave in the crypto market.
