Polymarket halted trading: about $2.65 million in stablecoins withdrawn and swapped into POL

On the evening of October 29, the largest prediction platform Polymarket switched the exchange to cancel-only mode. Through a compromised third-party contractor, approximately $2.65 million drained from user accounts in a matter of minutes.

According to a CoinShares report, crypto asset investment products (exchange-traded funds and trusts through which institutions buy crypto like a stock) lost $434 million in net outflows in the week to October 16. The sell-off accelerated after the October 14 inflation data.
