U.S. spot ETFs on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ended the week with major capital outflows. In total, investors withdrew about $1.246 billion. At the same time, the previous week saw inflows in the same categories, so the reversal in flows was especially noticeable.
How much money left the funds
Bitcoin ETFs lost about $678.9 million over the week. About $542.2 million exited Ethereum ETFs. Solana funds saw an additional outflow of $25 million. Most of the selling occurred in the middle of the week.
When the outflow was at its peak
On Wednesday, about $484.9 million left Bitcoin ETFs. On Thursday, investors withdrew another roughly $244.1 million. The total outflow across the three categories reached $650.6 million on October 7. The next day, it amounted to another $320.1 million. Only on Friday did Bitcoin ETFs close the day with a small inflow of about $21.1 million for the first time in several sessions.
Who lost the most on Bitcoin
The largest weekly outflow came from Fidelity's FBTC. About $380.3 million was withdrawn from the fund. That is roughly 56% of the entire weekly outflow from Bitcoin ETFs. ARKB lost about $207.2 million. About $47.5 million exited GBTC, and about $45.3 million left BITB. At the same time, BlackRock's IBIT ended the week with a small net inflow of about $1.1 million.
What happened with Ethereum ETFs
For Ethereum, the outflow was even more concentrated in a single product. About $477.1 million exited BlackRock's ETHA. That is almost 88% of the total weekly outflow from Ethereum ETFs. The largest single day was October 6, when about $201.9 million was withdrawn from the fund.
Solana closed the entire week in the red
Solana funds recorded outflows for all five trading sessions in a row. In total, about $25 million left them. BSOL accounted for about $21 million in withdrawals. This shows that the pressure affected not only Bitcoin and Ethereum, but also the younger segment of spot crypto ETFs.
Why the reversal in Bitcoin is especially important
A week earlier, Bitcoin ETFs received about $241 million in net inflows. Now they showed an outflow of almost $679 million. The difference between the two weeks is about $920 million. Such a reversal shows how quickly the mood of major market participants can change.
What this means for the crypto market
When large funds begin to cut positions, the market can become less stable. The volume of steady demand decreases. Against this backdrop, individual sales move the price more, and volatility increases. This becomes especially noticeable during periods when the macroeconomic backdrop is also deteriorating.
What's next
The main question is whether the current outflow was a one-off risk-off move or the start of a longer series. If funds return to inflows, pressure on the market may quickly ease. If negative flows persist for several more weeks, this will become a more sustained signal of weakening institutional demand.
Did you trade crypto this week?
Large ETF outflows create strong moves, but a retail trader's result is still limited by the size of available capital. In prop trading, the trading notional is provided by the company after passing a paid challenge, and profit is distributed according to pre-established conditions. It's worth understanding the mechanics in advance, before the next week with a major reversal in institutional flows.
