    The company is preparing seven-day-a-week stock trading

On September 29, Robinhood, a major American broker for retail investors, began rolling out perpetual cryptocurrency futures trading for clients in the US. These are contracts without an expiration date that can be held without the need to roll over into a new contract after expiry. In parallel, the broker added AI trading assistants and is preparing the ability to trade stocks on weekends.

Which assets are available The starting lineup includes 8 assets:

  • BTC
  • ETH
  • SOL
  • XRP
  • DOGE
  • ADA
  • LINK
  • HYPE

The maximum leverage for BTC and ETH is up to 10x, for other assets - up to 3x. The commission until the end of the year is 0.01% per trade. The technical side is provided by Bitstamp, an exchange owned by Robinhood. For now, the launch is limited. The company plans to open broader access within a few months.

How position settlement works

The main feature of the mechanics is that the financial result on a position is calculated every 15 minutes. That is, profit and loss are recorded not once a day, but four times an hour.

The interface also offers:

  • stop-loss;
  • take-profit;
  • real-time display of the liquidation price;
  • notifications about position risk.

The liquidation price shows the level at which a leveraged position may be forcibly closed.

What Vlad Tenev said

Robinhood founder and CEO Vlad Tenev stated that the company is bringing to the American market perpetual contracts without expiration and with settlement every 15 minutes. Robinhood adds AI assistants Another area of platform development is Robinhood Agents. A user can create their own AI assistant within the app to research the market and automate trading. Since the launch of automated trading in May, more than 150,000 people have opened accounts for it. According to the company, the assistants perform about 30 million operations per day.

What's next

Robinhood wants to launch round-the-clock stock trading seven days a week for a separate list of stocks and exchange-traded funds. The company needs regulatory approval to launch. Currently, the so-called "24-hour market" operates from Sunday 20:00 New York time to Friday 20:00 through its own venue Bruce ATS.

Leverage is available, but no account for it?

Perpetual contracts with leverage allow you to increase the position size relative to your own capital, but the risks grow along with it. In prop trading, it is additionally important to consider the rules of a specific program. Some prop programs allow trading cryptocurrency with leverage, while others restrict holding positions over the weekend or trading during news releases. These conditions are best checked before buying a challenge, not after the first violation. The selection process allows you to immediately exclude programs whose rules do not suit a specific trading style.
