Since 08:00 MSK on Sunday, the exchange has processed $4.65 billion in withdrawals and $1.01 billion in deposits. The net negative was calculated from $171 billion in assets under management according to the reserve report dated October 28 (public confirmation that the exchange holds coins to cover client obligations).
The reason is Thursday's attack: about $6.3 billion was withdrawn from Binance's hot wallets (network-connected storage from which payouts are made). On Saturday, the FBI attributed the theft to the North Korean group TraderTraitor. Binance co-head Richard Teng said the same day that the exchange had already replenished 90% of what was stolen and would cover the remainder; on Friday the company reported $6.34 billion prepared to cover it.
Withdrawals are being opened in stages. The first wave is 15 networks and assets, fully by 15:36 MSK. But on the status page, withdrawals were still suspended for 531 of 552 coins; 14 were partially operational, including BTC and ETH. The networks Cardano, Chainlink, Hyperliquid, Litecoin and NEAR remain in testing.
Where the money went: according to DefiLlama, $4.05 billion left Binance in 24 hours, while the next 10 exchanges received a total of about +$368 million, of which OKX +$316.8 million. Bitfinex lost $106.3 million, Gate - $34.5 million. Binance's BTC balance decreased by roughly 19,289 BTC, while Coinbase gained 984 BTC and Kraken gained 1,422 BTC.
Next up is the updated reserve report as of October 31, expected on Monday.
Keeping everything on one exchange?
When withdrawals are suspended for 531 of 552 coins, the question isn't about the chart, but about where your account is held and what volume you're working with at all. You won't build a large nominal with your own deposit, and hauling millions onto an exchange - now you can see how that ends. In prop trading, the trading account is provided by the company: you pay for the evaluation, stay within its risk limits and share the profit. It's worth understanding the mechanics in a calm market, not on the day of the next headline like this.
